FEARLESS FOR A FEW MINUTES

We were invited, last night, to a swim party for my nieces's cousin's son's first birthday party (you got that relationship strait, right?). the party was helad at Murray Park's outdoor Pool and it was a private party, so the entire grounds were taken up by just party people. It was a very nice place and in all of my years I have never been there.
When we got there and situated with floaties, beach ball and food austin and Ashlynne were ready to dive in (pardon the pun). Ashlynne is 4 years old and completely fearless. She just doesn't have a fearful bone in her body. She decided it was time to check out the water slide. Austin on the other hand is all about safety and wants to stay near the ground--just in case he falls. Ben saw Ashlynne head for the slide and decided to catch up with her. I was headed to the pool to catch her when she came out, but alas, I found her clinging to Laurie (KoriAnn's other cousin) for dear life. Apparently when she got to the top, there were people in the way, so she butted in line (Note to self: teach children about butting in line and how rude it is and that they have to wait their turn) She started out going forward, according to Ben, but then by the time her little body got down that slide, it had twisted around and she had no idea where she was going. She freaked out, she wanted her Nana.
It took some time to convince her that if she went with an adult, that she wouldn't get turned around again, so she finally consented and went down with KoriAnn.
Austin on the other hand still wasn't having anything to do with that slide and was perfectly content to stay near the ground level and play with all the cousin's near eye level. He loved the waterfall balls and just hanging out.
This was also Brighton's first swimming experience. It excited him so much, he threw up three times. So off came his swim stuff and on went his PJ's and he was fast asleep in his Aunt Joyces arms.

It was nice of Brooke and her family to invite us and I have to say that I was pleased with the pool, so we may just have to go there again. Fun was had by all and Happy First Birthday Shane!!

About Me

My photo
Keith and I were married on October 12,1996 in the Manti, Utah LDS Temple. We have no children but raised one child, Kassie, who is actually my niece. We have 3 adorable grandchildren, Austin 5, Ashlynne 4, and Andrew 1. It has become apparent that our home has an OPEN-DOOR policy, since a lot of people have come and gone through our doors. I retired from the medical profession in Aug of 2007 after nearly 30 years and spend my time taking care of these three very lively, often funny,and very active children. My mother lives with us, however she is serving in the Illinois Peoria Mission and will return in July of 2011. Keith is an R.N. and works at a local rehab center in the Mental Health department. One day we hope to finish our home and travel more;
