WHAT A WEEKEND

The weekend began on Friday cleaning my house (well mostly Kassie cleaning the house) so that I could host a Scentsy Open House. If you know me, I really do not like to give parties, but Kassie bugged me so much about it, I finally gave in.
the house stayed relatively clean for 24 hours. then It's back to the normal kids bringing out toys, undressing in living room, leaving their clothes in living room, not playing with their toys in living room, tripping over toys in living room.... you get the picture.

Saturday I got up early (well early for me) and went to Ogden to get a haircut from a girl my niece knows. She did a great job, but unfortunately they are moving and not sure where they will be.

The Bishop and one of his counselors wanted to visit with me and I had to be home by 1:00. I pulled in the driveway at 12:58 p.m. But the Bishop couldn't come then, so I puttered around the house until 2:30.

When the Bishop arrived, it was to let me know that our Primary Presidency was being released. This wasn't a shock for two reasons. A few months ago, Debbie (the President) and told us at a meeting that she felt that we would probably be released in a few months. It was just one of her feelings that she had, know one had said anything to her. Just a hunch. And when Deb has a hunch, it is generally right on. Then when mom went on her mission, the bishop asked how long our Presidency had been serving. This mother's day would have been 3 years. I have been in Primary though for 4 1/2 years ( I think--if I did the math right) 1 1/2 as chorister and the other as Second Counselor.

When I was called to this position, I had a struggle with it. Partially because I really don't get along well with small children in groups. I do much better with a one on one situation. and face it: Kids today have got far more knowledge and faith than we had when we were their age. Or at least it seems that way.

I felt overwhelmed by this calling, I still struggled to the end, but in the end, I have grown to love those children and only wish what is best for them. It is difficult to see the children that were three when we moved in grow up and move into young women's.

So as one of our ward member's pointed out to us: When the Sacrament program comes up in the fall, we can sit back, relax and cry at all they have learned.

I am grateful for the friendships I made and will still have, I am grateful for the growth that I had in Primary (the second time around) and I am grateful for the gospel teachings and all that we continue to learn daily and the strength that comes from knowing that we belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

MY NAME IS FLORIST

Mom called last night all excited. It had been a busy week.
They had moved from the Mission Home to their apartment. Had gone to the Thrift Store (which by the way is Sister Homer's store of choice to shop). On Saturday had had a baptism and had gone to the laundromat afterwards to dry a comforter that Sister Homer had purchased from said thrift store. As they were making themselves comfortable a lady asked them who they were representing by their name tags that they were wearing.

And so it begins. Their first contact--without really contacting! You know they say it's a great place to meet people--the laundromat and the grocery store!
The woman introduced herself as herself as "Florist" not Flora, or Rose, not Daisy! Her father loved flowers so much he wanted to capture the entire gambit of flora, So the poor woman was stuck with Florist! Only in America could we get away with a name like that!

They struck up a conversation, they told her who they were and she actually said that she had one of "Your Books" at home. And that she was interested in finding out more. So they told her the elders would contact with her and so the proselyting begins!

They will be serving in the Peoria Ward--15 miles from where they actually live, and will be helping with the re-activation of less active members and helping them adjust back into the LDS circles.

Way to go Sisters!

I REALIZE IT ISN"T CHRISTMAS ANYMORE

For those of you that have had issues with your computer, please bear with me. My computer is having serious issues right now. I can't download any pictures to the blog, I can't change the background and I am very frustrated. As soon as I get this problem taken care of, I may return to a somewhat normal posting habit! I said "may"!

MY COUSIN'S POST--VERY FUNNY

From my cousin's post. She is so hilarious and should write a book about some of her experiences.
Ben my true cousin), Carly, and their three and a half children live in Las Vegas while he finishes up Dental School and start to embark on their journey to Kentucky for Orthodontic School. So if this goes on in Las Vegas, imagine what will happen in Kentucky. I can hardly wait!

Oh Dear........

Yesterday I was swimming laps when a lifeguard called me over to the side of the pool and asked me "ummm your not having your baby right now are you?"

Yes sweetheart, I went into labor this morning and couldn't decide whether to call my doctor or go to the pool, so here I am just having a baby and perfecting my backstroke.

Seriously people, I think we previously established that you can expect these kind of comments from the shoppers at Walmart but I thought I was pretty safe at the local YMCA.
I've never been bothered there before, in fact one of the reasons I was there was because generally it's quiet, you can always have a lane to yourself and it's a good place to have a little peace to think.

I pulled off my swim cap just to make sure I had heard her correctly and when I could see that she was serious I just smiled and said "No honey, I'm not having a baby right now.....but I'm pretty sure I met your mother at Walmart the other day."

RESOLUTIONS?

I don't make resolutions because I never abide by them. So if I think to myself that oh, it's the first of the month rather than the first of the year--something may get done.
Since mom is going on an extended trip for 18 months, Kassie and I have decided to try and get the men in the house (grown men that is) to rinse off their dishes and put them in the dishwasher--NOW--not in three days or when one of us does it! Do you think it will work? who knows?
Reading my scriptures on a more than once or twice a year basis. I figured I would begin on Sunday and so far, so good. But then it is only Wednesday.
Picking up after everyone when something happens and not waiting til evening to get it done. We'll see about this one--sometimes I am just far too tired to walk to the next room, let alone, pick up a toy or piece of paper the kidshave dropped or left out.
This is a very short list and there are thousands of things that need to be worked on or done--but I will start here and hopefully build on it.
Happy New Year!

About Me

My photo
Keith and I were married on October 12,1996 in the Manti, Utah LDS Temple. We have no children but raised one child, Kassie, who is actually my niece. We have 3 adorable grandchildren, Austin 5, Ashlynne 4, and Andrew 1. It has become apparent that our home has an OPEN-DOOR policy, since a lot of people have come and gone through our doors. I retired from the medical profession in Aug of 2007 after nearly 30 years and spend my time taking care of these three very lively, often funny,and very active children. My mother lives with us, however she is serving in the Illinois Peoria Mission and will return in July of 2011. Keith is an R.N. and works at a local rehab center in the Mental Health department. One day we hope to finish our home and travel more;
