AUTUMN IS IN THE AIR

Keith and I decided to take the two older kids for a ride up to Little Cottonwood Canyon today to see the leaves and enjoy the the nice day before the weather turns bad. It was the perfect day for a ride. the temperature was a little warm, but there was a nice breeze, the leaves were stupendous in their autumnal hues and the kids weren't too bad either.
We stopped and got something to eat and ended up at Tanner Flats at a picnic area just above the river. It was so peaceful. I really wished I sould stay forever and not come back to the chaos and confusion that runs our every day lives.
The kids loved climbing on the big granite boulders and slabs, loved gathering leaves andywhere from average size to itty bitty baby leaves. Austin was in his glory after he found a walking stick. Truly--does anyone have any answer as to why boys are drawn to big walking sticks? I just don't get it. Greg did it too when he was little. Austin even gathers little sticks and makes little nests out of them--he must be part bird!
We did a little mini hike, took pictures and then came home. It was nice to get away for even a few hours. They had a great time and as you can see by the final picture, Ashlynne was completely wiped out by the entire experience. Happy Autumn!!!

Love the fall colors. Definitely a great time to look at all of the leafs and changing things up in the mountains. Ash looks beat. You did it! You wore her out.

About Me

My photo
Keith and I were married on October 12,1996 in the Manti, Utah LDS Temple. We have no children but raised one child, Kassie, who is actually my niece. We have 3 adorable grandchildren, Austin 5, Ashlynne 4, and Andrew 1. It has become apparent that our home has an OPEN-DOOR policy, since a lot of people have come and gone through our doors. I retired from the medical profession in Aug of 2007 after nearly 30 years and spend my time taking care of these three very lively, often funny,and very active children. My mother lives with us, however she is serving in the Illinois Peoria Mission and will return in July of 2011. Keith is an R.N. and works at a local rehab center in the Mental Health department. One day we hope to finish our home and travel more;
